The Mendip TTL
Welcome to the 2008-2009 season of the Mendip Table Tennis League.
Exciting developments have been made to the league format this year,
with all teams playing each other in the first half of the season. No
doubt this will throw up some interesting matches and results, but
also provides some of us even more opportunity to get lost on the way
to a game. Let us know what you think of the new format as the season
progresses.
The training/coaching nights held at St Pauls School, Shepton Mallet,
continue to draw new players into table tennis and the more
experienced back into the game.
The Mendip Table Tennis League has two divisions, cup competitions, open competitions and training for both youngsters and the not so young. Table tennis is one of the world's largest indoor participation sports. It is a full olympic sport, and it can be played as a highly athletic and exciting competitive activity or as a relaxing and healthy recreation. It is a truly a sport for all people. Fitness combines easily with fun in table tennis; playing styles can be varied to suit each person's qualities and personality. Depending on your degree of commitment, table tennis can offer anything from a full time vocation to a light-hearted pastime, whichever your choice, fuller study of the game will lead to quicker progress. The league is run on a friendly basis with many of the clubs convienently located next door to a watering hole where people can relax and congratulate or commiserate with the opposition after a strenuous match.
To all involved in Mendip table tennis, both new and old, competitive
and recreational, we hope you enjoy the new season.
Good luck.
